Peter Goodwin began to develop an interest in woodworking when he was 8 years old helping his father build a sailboat while growing up in Toronto, Ontario. The family later moved to Peterborough, Ontario in 1966 and Peter continued to develop his creative side, along with a strong desire to work with his hands. Peter honed his skills as a master craftsman while employed in a furniture production company, building colonial pine furniture in the 1970’s. Peter started his own business, Goodwin Creations, in 1979, and he continues to refine his craft to this day. He works out of his design studio workshop, developing a wide variety of custom tables, cabinets and fine furniture. Peter has been influenced by the work of many great craftsmen such as George Nakashima, James Krenov, Gary Knox-Bennett, Emille Ruhlman and John Makepeace. The majority of his commissions are created through design consultation with his clients resulting in fine furniture for residential homes, offices and common spaces. Peter enjoys a variety of other interests including landscaping, gardening, painting and building audio speakers. Please contact Peter if you would like to discuss the creation of your own piece of custom fine furniture. You’ll discover how one man’s passion for wood translates into a thing of beauty that will last a lifetime. |
